Use this 6-step formula to make easy scrapbook pages. Amy Mallory made excellent use of a popular trend on “Love You” by using the pocket-sized journaling cards as the base for her blocked design. Notice that she also took one color from the photo and worked with it and neutrals.

How to make this layout
- Place 4 pocket cards in a 2 by 2 block a bit to the right of vertical center and a bit above horizontal center–but don’t mount permanently yet.
- Choose several neutral pieces of paper and/or ephemera and layer beneath the four pocket cards.
- For a digital page, “clip” your photo to one of the pocket cards. For a paper page, trim your photo to the card size and round corners.
- Embellish the other three cards with stamps, brushwork, rub-ons and other elements that repeat one color from your photo.
- Add ribbon or twill across the pocket cards between the two rows. Embellish with tape and a date tag.
- Add bullet-point journaling below the pocket cards. Stamp or print the bullets in the one color you’re working with.
